Celebrities with Hair Transplants

Elton John, John Travolta, Brendan Fraser and many others celebrities have long been rumored to have undergone some impressive hair transplantation procedures, but which celebrities are not ashamed to admit it?

Wayne Rooney
As the youngest football player to represent England Wayne Rooney has confirmed that he had a hair transplant procedure. Back in 2011 Rooney revealed that he had a FUT procedure done and even shared his bloodied scalp in Twitter saying, “Just to confirm to all my followers, I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25, why not? I’m delighted with the results.” Rooney also underwent another hair transplant procedure in 2013 to cover up two new bald patches at the back of his head.   (interview here)

Dennis Miller
The comedian and out-spoken talk show host always appeared to have an impressive head of hair, over the years. Recently though, he admitted undergoing a transplant procedure back in 2004. He reportedly wanted to address the problem early, before any major loss occurred. See his rant on Joe Biden's alleged "plugs" and promotion of his own "plugs" on the O'Reilly factor here.

Louis Walsh
X Factor Judge Louis Walsh was battling with thinning hair before he decided to undergo the FUE hair transplant procedure back in 2011. At 59 the X Factor judge was a great candidate for the surgery, as his hair was unlikely to recede any further, allowing him to enjoy the results of the transplant permanently. You can watch his youtube review of the procedure and the Ireland facility, in which it occurred here.

Robbie Williams
On a 2013 episode of the Graham Norton Show, Pop singer Robbie Williams, admitted to having a hair transplant. While he says he didn't need any major improvements, he did decide to spruce up his front hairline and enhance the hairs on the sides of his head. (article here)

Wes Welker
This wide receiver for the Denver Broncos has been loud and proud ever since he decided to undergo a hair transplantation procedure. He even has participated in advertising for the hair restoration clinic in New England that produced his now admirable head of hair. According to Wes,  “The hair transplant was the best thing I have ever done.” Read his interview with USA Today here.

Common Reasons Women Lose Their Hair

For women, hair is more than just hair. It is a part of self-confidence. When it comes to a woman’s femininity, hair plays an important role for most people. It helps make women feel beautiful and young. As one ages, hair loss might take a toll on the self-confidence hair provides. It can be devastating, to say the least. Let’s take a look at a few types of female hair loss.

Trichotillomania

Playing or twirling with your hair is a habit that a lot of women exhibit. This habit can easily turn into Trichotillomania, a serious hair loss condition. It is the act of pulling out hair and often can be done without even realizing it. This hair loss type is self-inflicted and often is used as a stress or anxiety reliever.

Traction Alopecia

Do you wear your hair in a tight ponytail for hours on end? You could eventually end up with Traction Alopecia. Pulling hair over time with different kinds of tight hair-styles lead to the hair follicles experiencing trauma and they stop growing all together.

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata is a hair loss condition that begins with one’s immune system. This occurs when one experiences an inflammatory reaction, causing one’s own immune system to disturb the roots of the hair follicles, causing hair loss.

Anagen Effluvium

Have you or a loved one experienced hair loss from chemotherapy? Chances are you are experiencing Anagen Effluvium, hair loss occurring when cellular-level mitotic or metabolic activity impairs the hair follicles. Therefore, chemotherapy targets the hair follicle cells while attempting to cease the rapidly dividing, cancer cells.

Androgenetic Alopecia

Women with this diagnosis experience thinning all around their scalp. It is caused due to the existence of androgens, which are male hormones. Hormones are unstable, causing rapid hair loss. Causes of rapid levels of androgen include birth control pills, pregnancy and menopause.

New Image has a solution

If you are experiencing any type of hair loss and would like to reverse the damage it has caused to your hair, New Image Hair Clinic is here with answers. We offer the latest technology in hair restoration and hair loss treatment. Female Hair Transplants at New Image

Are you experiencing noticeable hair loss and not sure what to do or who to speak to about it? Hair loss can be confusing and challenging for most, but the GOOD news is there are several solutions out there that can restore your hair. But, how do you chose which one is right for you and your hair/scalp condition?

New Image Hair Clinic offers SEVERAL solutions to slow the progression of hair loss and restore hair where it was lost. One of our technologically advanced treatment options is Hair Transplantation. Hair transplants offer natural looking results utilizing your own real growing hair, and is virtually pain free. Hair is simply taken from the back or sides of the head — genetically pre-determined not to fall out, and transplanted in the areas where you are experiencing thinning or complete loss. This results in new hair growth that may continue to grow for the rest of your life.

Two specific types of hair transplants are Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

Follicular Unit Transplantation- This method, (FUT) also called the “strip method, allows the physician to fully utilize the scalp area to deliver results. It includes surgically removing a strip of scalp from the head and redistributing those follicles across the regions where one is experiencing hair loss. This method is fast which in turn requires fewer sessions. Though there will be a scar as a result of this procedure, the hair will look natural and evenly distributed.

Follicular Unit Extraction- This method (FUE) includes harvesting individual follicular units one-by-one from the donor area. Each follicle is then transplanted into the areas affected by hair loss. Though this method is more time-consuming, it will not leave a scar because it does not involve removing a strip from the scalp. The healing process is also quicker with the FUE method.

Hair transplantation is a great option for those seeking natural looking results with their own real growing hair, but it's not the right option for everyone. New Image offers several other alternatives to hair transplants to meet the needs of each client. Our other treatment options include Laser Hair Therapy, iHair Non-Surgical Hair Replacement, Folistrand Non-Surgical Hair Replacement, and more. The professionals at New Image Hair Clinic will be able to determine which solution is best for you and your hair type. Hair Loss in Children

While we may not realize it, for most people hair plays an important part in our self-image and even our self-esteem. Hair loss can greatly increase negative feelings on how we see ourselves, especially for children who experience hair loss. While it may not seem as common as hair loss in adults, many children are affected by it. Hair loss in children is estimated to account for 3% of pediatrician visits and the vast majority of children suffering with hair loss do so because of the following conditions.

1.  Tinea capitis: This is the most common cause of hair loss in children. Tinea capitis also known as ringworm of the scalp is a fungal infection that attacks the hair and causes scaly, ring-like lesions to form. It can affect the hair on the scalp, eyebrows, and eyelashes. Children with tinea capitis will have patchy hair loss around the affected areas and broken off hairs that are visible just above the surface. This condition is easily transmitted through touch from one infected child to another and can easily be passed on by sharing combs, brushes, hats, barrettes, pillows and bath towels. You can typically diagnose tinea capitis just by its appearance on the scalp and it can be treated with antifungal medications, such as griseofulvin, and special shampoo for eight weeks.

2.  Alopecia Areata: Alopecia areata is when the hair suddenly start falling out in round or oval patches. These bald patches are completely smooth and they don’t show any signs of inflammation, scaling, or broken hairs. They can appear overnight or sometimes over a few days. This is a very rare condition that’s believed to occur when the child’s immune system suddenly attacks its own hair follicles. This condition affects about 1 in 1,000 children and there are no conclusive diagnostic tests for alopecia areata. It’s currently diagnosed through process of elimination of other hair loss causes and close examination of the bald spots. Alopecia areata cannot be cured but there are hair restoration solutions available at New Image Hair Clinic. Speak to a hair loss expert about your options at NewImageHairClinic.com

3.  Hair Shaft Trauma: Physical stress is another common cause of hair loss in children. Hair shaft trauma is caused by constant pulling of the hair from tight ponytails or braids and excessive friction, such as, rubbing against a pillow. Hair trauma can also be caused by chemical burns or Trichotillomania, a mental condition that causes people to obsessively pull out their hair. As long as the hair trauma was not severe or wasn’t done long enough to cause scarring, the hair should regrow when the trauma has stopped. If hair loss persists, contact a hair loss specialist such as New Image to discuss your options. New Image is proud to offer a variety of solutions to all hair loss situations.

4. Telogen effluvium: Telogen effluvium is another common cause of hair loss in children this is a condition that occurs when the hair cycle is interrupted. Typically, an individual’s hair follicle has a long growth phase, producing steadily growing hair for 2 to 6 years. After the growth phase hair follows a brief transitional phase for about 3 weeks, where the hair follicle shrinks. Than the hair goes into the resting phase, also known as the telogen phase, for about 3 months this is when the hair follicles lie dormant. In the final stage the old hair sheds and new hair continues to grow. When telogen effluvium occurs something happens to interrupt the normal hair cycle causing many or all your hair to be thrown into the telogen phase. Many different things can cause Telogen effluvium such as extremely high fevers, excess vitamin A, emotional stress such as the death of a loved one, severe injuries, and the use of certain prescription medication. There is no conclusive diagnostic test to accurately diagnose telogen effluvium but it is usually up to the experience of the physician to make the diagnosis. In children, once the stressful event is over, full hair growth usually occurs between six months and one year.

If your child is experiencing hair loss, call New Image Hair Clinic for a complimentary hair and scalp analysis to determine the cause and proper solution(s). When you become a client of New Image, you can be assured that your 100% satisfaction will be our first priority. Male vs. Female Pattern Baldness

Hair loss affects almost everyone, but the degree of hair loss and the cause is what differs from one individual to the next. One of the most common conditions that causes hair loss in both men and women is known as, Androgenetic alopecia. Although, both men and women can have alopecia, the pattern of balding looks completely different, hence male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness.

How Does Balding Begin?
Balding and hair loss occurs when the hair follicle shrinks over time, resulting in finer hair until eventually the follicle does not grow new hair. Even though there is no longer hair growing, the follicles remain alive which suggests the potential for new hair to grow with the help of hair restoration treatments.

Androgenetic alopecia can be genetic, a response to unbalanced hormones or a combination of both. Although, there are similarities in the ways that androgenetic alopecia affects men and women, we've highlighted some of the major differences.

Male vs. Female Alopecia:
In men, androgenetic alopecia is characterized by a specific pattern of receding hairline and thinning on the crown of the head. Often times it progresses to partial or complete baldness. Normally androgenetic alopecia, also called male pattern baldness, is diagnosed based on the appearance and pattern of hair loss.

Androgenetic alopecia usually has a very different effect on women. In female pattern baldness, the hair thins all over the scalp in no particular pattern although it is usually first noticed because of the widening of the center hair part. The front hairline usually remains unaffected. Also unlike male pattern baldness, androgenetic alopecia in women rarely leads to total or near total baldness.
The best treatments for hair loss for androgenic alopecia may differ among men and women. Men are typically better candidates for hair transplants because the hormone that affects hair loss usually doesn’t affect hair on the sides and back of the head. Therefore, those areas can be used as donor sites for hair transplants. In women, on the other hand, hair all over the head is unstable because there is no a distinct pattern of hair loss. But, some women are candidates for hair transplants and benefit greatly from that type of treatment. For those who are not hair transplant candidates, there are a number of other options to dramatically slow down the hair loss process and to stimulate strong, healthy hair.

New Image Hair Clinic offers all of the solutions for both male and female pattern baldness including surgical hair transplants, non-surgical hair replacement, and Laser Hair Therapy treatments. At New Image we are committed to providing you with the best hair loss help possible and our hair loss solutions will give you the natural-looking hair and hairline you deserve. Synergy: Finding the Perfect Hair Color for Your Skin Tone

Finding the perfect hair color is not a choice made by luck, but by science. It is never as easy as pointing to a person and saying “I want that!” Just as every person has a different fingerprint, finding the right shade and color is just as unique.

The wrong combination can lead some disappointment, but the right one can lead to a jackpot full of admiration and envy. The perfect color will compliment both your skin tone, interest and can make your facial features stand out.

The way to find the right color has little to do with finding the one you want, and more to do with what color your skin likes.

Hair Color Pigmentation
Hair color comes in two distinct ways: by the level and shade. Color levels fall on a scale of one to ten; one being the darkest color like jet-black and ten being the lightest color, like platinum blonde. Within each level are color pigments- eumelanin (black-brown) and pheomelanin (red-brown), which control the shade.

Skin Undertones, Eye Color and Hair Color
Your skin tone also contains these underlying pigments. Those born with blonde hair, have cooler undertones like blue, green, pink or blue-based red. In addition, those born with brown or black hair have warmer, earthy undertones like orange, brown, gold or orange-based red. Your undertone indicates the type of hair color that will look better on you: warm on warm, and cool on cool.

Eye colors also follow the pigment guidelines. Those with eyes that are deep brown, black-brown, gray blue, dark blue or hazel with white, gray or blue flecks would look good with cool tones in their hair. However, if your eyes are golden brown, green, turquoise or hazel with gold or brown flecks you will look best with warm tones in your hair.

As complex as this all the may seem the result will surpass the process by far. So have some fun and try a new hair color. You may be glad you did!

At New Image Hair Clinic we care about what you think and our goal is to give you the best result possible and exceed your expectations. If you’re suffering from hair loss or thinning hair, call us at 1-888-615-0243 for Pittsburgh and 1-888-615-0563 for Harrisburg or visit here to schedule your FREE hair and scalp analysis.

Hair Loss and Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease and the steps necessary to detect the disease in its early stages. Being that breast cancer is the second leading cause of death amongst women, it's important that we bring awareness throughout the month of October to educate both men and women about the significance of early detection.

According to Statistics:
Breast Cancer is the second leading cause of death in women.

About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.

For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than any other cancer, besides lung cancer.

Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. Just under 30% of cancers in women are breast cancers.

We are fortunate to have many treatment options available for the complexity of the mix cells in each individual cancer. Be aware that these treatments do have a side-effect: hair loss.

Why does this Happen?
Hair loss can occurs as the result of chemotherapy which targets rapidly dividing cells – cancer and healthy. Within a few weeks, a patient may lose some if not all their hair. This also includes hair all over the body.  The extent to which hair loss ensues depends on which drugs or other treatments (Radiation or Hormonal) are used, as well as the longevity of it all. Fortunately, this is temporary and may grow back at a later date.

What can be Expected?
The loss of hair often occurs one to three weeks after the start of treatment. It can happen rapidly in clumps or gradually. The accumulation of hair can be observed on your pillowcase, in a brush or comb, and even in the shower. This will continue throughout the treatment and up to a few weeks after.

How is hair loss Prevented?
There's no guarantee that hair loss will not occur. Nevertheless, the best thing to do is plan for the possibility. Trying to maintain a healthy mind and body after hair loss depends on a person's particular situation, such as the support of friends and family, as well as the attitude of the person.

Here are a few things that may help with hair loss:

Use mild shampoos
Use soft-bristle hair brushes
Avoid using hot hair tools — or use on low heat
Wear sunscreen, hats or scarves to protect your scalp from the sun's harmful rays

How to make the best of It?
The best way to deal with the situation is to research what you can do to prepare yourself for possible upcoming events. Sources such as www.mayoclinic.org, ww5.komen.org/, and breastcancer.org are great sites that can assist you throughout the treatment process.

At New Image Hair Clinic we care about what you think and our goal is to give you the best result possible and exceed your expectations. Create Your New Image with Hair Trends for Summer 2015

As the seasons change, so should your hair -- especially in the beautiful season of summer! Gather your bobby pins, curling irons, and maybe even book an appointment for a coloring, because this summer you're going to look fabulous! So, what are the most popular hair trends of 2015? Take a look at our list comprised of styles endorsed by fashion icons, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, and more!

1. Low Ponytail

The ponytail trend has been a fan favorite for a long time. You can wear it tied loosely or tightly, messy or groomed, but the key is to wear it low at the nape of the neck. For an evening look, you can wear it glossy and flat to add a dash of glamour.

2. Woodstock Waves

Natural wavy hair is back! Let your hair dry naturally to add more movement to it and let the curls relax and fall into place by themselves.

3. Center Parted Hair

The secret on this one is to wear it center parted but with a natural look. You can go with down-dos, low ponytails or even loose. The key is not to wear it precisely centered nor neatly at one side.

4. Fresh-Wet Looks

Spring and summer are all about being fresh, so this trend reflects it. A slicked back wet-look is definitely made to make you rock and shine!

5. Short Cuts

Short cuts are all over the place now because it’s one of the best alternatives to cope with the heat and also stay on trend. The style called “The Lob” is the number one among actresses. It is nothing but an above-the-shoulders cut. Some people like it shorter, like bob style, and some prefer just the lob. Either way, you cannot go wrong picking this style!

6. Fringed

Piece and swept over bangs are what is on for this season. Forget the neatly look!

7. Up-dos

Twisted high buns are on. You can wear it all messy or slicked back and glossy, the important thing is that they keep away from your shoulders!

8. Plaits

Braided looks are always welcome, even more when it’s getting hot! You can bet on mini, loosen plaits on the bottom section of your hair for the day and for the night go for a loosely plait back up-do.

9. Forget about Ombre Hair

The trend now is highlights that frame the face. Try highlighting your hair in a way that gives movement to it and gives brightness to your face.

10. Best Go-to Colors

a. Highlights: Like said on item #9. highlights are on now. However, the best bet here is to have those highlights imitating the ones you got when you were a kid spending too much time on the sun. A more natural sun-kissed hair.

b. Monochrome Brunette: A popular trend now is committing to one solid color if you don’t like highlights or too much going on in your hair. Among so many people with dual-tone hairs, one single color might make you stand out.

c. Blonded Brunette: The technique usually used to create this “blonded brunette” effect is balayage. What balayage does is that it adds some blond only to the bottom part of the darker hair to brighten the client’s face, but it is not as strong as an ombre hair.

d. Little Mermaid Red: Reds such as Emma Stone and Rihanna are here to stay. The days people would fear this color because it’s too wild are long gone. This trend is here to stay and a good professional knows how to play with red tones to make it suitable to anyone. Go for it!

Solutions for Female Hair Loss

1. Graduated Enhancement Method – The Graduated Enhancement Method, or GEM, is a hair loss treatment that allows the client to add the amount of hair she wants, where she wants, and the way she wants it. GEM’s are based on the type of hair loss the clients is experiencing and she can decide the exact color, style, wave and texture she wants.

2. Method Trapeze – This method uses 100% human hair on its procedure, infusing external hair to existing follicles, making the blending process with your current hair flawless. Moreover, it allows individuals to add hair to the areas that are lacking growth. This method is ideal for active women!

3. Folistrand – Exclusively offered by New Image Hair Clinic, Folistrand is not a wig or an extension. On this procedure, the company integrates the client’s existing hair to have a fuller, thicker and healthier hair.

4. Invisitrand Professional Hair Extensions – Invisistrand are extensions that give you more length and fullness without sacrificing versatility. So you can wear your hair up or down, long or short, and blond or brunette as you wish!

5. Laser Hair Therapy – This therapy increases the blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles, encouraging thicker, fuller and healthier hair to grow. This Laser Hair Therapy consists of a low-level Laser Machine and a Laser Comb. The machine and the comb may be combined throughout the treatment or used separately, the one that best fits the client.

6. Female Hair Transplants – This procedure is more common for men but it can be a solution in some women’s case. First, the patient has to be evaluated to determine if she is a candidate to go through the procedure. Once the client is eligible to undergo the process, the doctors take hair from the back or sides of the patient’s head, which are genetically pre-determined not to fall, and transplant them into the hair loss area. This results in new hair that continues to grow for the rest of the patient’s life! But beware, this is a surgical procedure and should only be performed by specialists.

 Solutions for Male Hair Loss

1. 3 Step Gradual Process – This process restores the patient’s hair gradually, so it doesn’t grow over night. It allows the hair loss specialist to give the patient the amount of hair he desires – a lot of hair or just enough to cover up any thinning areas.

2. Follistrand – Follistrand is 100% human hair infused directly into the scalp. Because it leaves your scalp visible, the hair appears to grow directly from your scalp. This non-surgical hair replacement is used by men with male patterned baldness and or thinning hair.

3. Folligraft – The procedure that adds hair just exactly where you need it such as the crown area, on top of the head, or just a new hairline. This technology allows New Image Specialists to customize hair the way you need it.

4. Bio-Membrane – This method utilizes the most advanced hair loss technology to create an eighth layer of skin. A simulation of natural hair growth pattern is created as hair is implanted one hair at a time.

5. Laser Hair Therapy – Exact same procedure used in the Laser Therapy for women. The laser increases the blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles, encouraging thicker, fuller and healthier hair to grow. This Laser Hair Therapy consists of a low-level Laser Machine and a Laser Comb. The machine and the comb may be combined throughout the treatment or used separately, the option that best fits the client.

6. Hair Transplants – This is a surgical procedure and so first, the patient has to be evaluated to determine if he is an eligible candidate to go through the procedure.

Advanced Laser Hair Therapy at New Image

If you are one of the millions of people that suffer from hair loss or thinning hair, then you know firsthand the devastating effects it can have. A lack of self-esteem is a common feeling for many that suffer from thinning hair, but it doesn't have to be! New Image Hair Clinic is here to help you restore your hair and your confidence with  Low Level Laser Hair Therapy.

What is Laser Hair Therapy?
Laser Hair Therapy is a non-invasive treatment ideal for men AND women experiencing early stages of hair loss or thinning hair. It is also a recommended treatment for people with certain scalp conditions and hair loss or damaged hair due to beauty treatments or the use chemicals.

How Does LLLHT Work?
You must be wondering how exactly this miracle in the form of laser works, right?
In 1964, Professor Andre Mester was experimenting with low-power laser energy and noticed that the healing process was accelerated by the laser due to microcirculation of blood supply. Much like the lasers tested by Prof. Mester, Laser Hair Therapy treatments increase the blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles, encouraging thicker, fuller and healthier growing hair. Laser Therapy may also help prevent future hair loss and improve scalp conditions. Results may vary.

Low Level Lasers Vs. High Powered?
Now to be a little bit more specific, there are two types of lasers: high power and low level. High powered lasers are used to penetrate tissue with a heating component commonly used in the removal of oral tumors. Low Level Lasers used for hair restoration  are “soft” lasers that do not have the thermal-component to cut, burn or vaporize — thus pain free! Laser Hair Therapy consists of a Low-Level Laser Machine and a Laser Comb. The machine and the comb may be combined throughout the treatment or your Hair Loss Specialist may decide to work only with the one that works best for you. Find out if you're a candidate for the LLLHT by scheduling a free consultation at http://www.newimagehairclinic.com/request-a-consultation/

After learning the history of the low level laser, the difference between high and low powered lasers and seeing the benefits of this non-invasive laser treatment, what are you waiting for? Take the first step towards fuller, thicker hair by calling New Image Hair Clinic today!
